New Groups Start
Feb. 2015
Around the Table is a small group fellowship designed for church members and friends to become better acquainted. This fellowship program is for couples and singles of all ages.
Around the Table groups will be comprised of approximately six people who will meet once a month for three gatherings at a group member’s home or a restaurant. The group may also choose to have dessert or appetizers together rather than a full meal.
FAQ
Who decides where and when our group will meet?
The participants of the group decide together. However the first person or couple listed on your group’s roster will be the lead person to initiate that communication and help establish that first meeting time and location.
Do I/we have to host the group at my home?
No. The group can meet at a restaurant where everyone is responsible for their own ticket or simply meet for coffee and muffins at a café.
Do I/we have to participate in every session throughout the year?
No. After the first three months all participants will be re-assigned to a new group. You may take a hiatus for a three-month period.
If I/we are the host home, do we have to provide food for the whole group?
A potluck style meal makes it easy for everyone. The host home may want to provide the main dish and drinks, and other members of the group bring a side dish, bread and dessert.
Is this a Bible study group?
No, there is no set agenda—just fellowship. (However, prayer before meals is encouraged.)
Can I bring infants and children to our group’s gatherings?
The group as a whole should make this decision. One month’s gathering may be an adult-only evening and another may be a picnic at a park where children can play. However, do be prepared to have childcare for your child(ren) on some occasions.
What months will we be meeting?
The sessions will run September, October, November and then February, March, April. The months of May through August, and December will be hiatus months allowing new folks to sign up and new groups to be organized.
What if I want to attend but my spouse is not able or not interested?
We welcome everyone with or without a spouse. Simply write your name only on the registration.
What if I don’t cook?
That’s why there’s take out and frozen dinners! Meals do not have to be homemade.
What is the dress attire?
Casual.
When will I be contacted about my Around the Table group assignment?
All registration forms are due no later than Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. We will contact all groups a couple days following so you can begin planning your first get-together in September.
